Steady improvement today

This is going to be a quick update because I'm exhausted. :)

Andrew did quite well last night and today. One of the two chest tubes came out, they're lowering the dosages on many of the medications, and he's urinating more. He's now putting out more fluids than he's taking in, which is good and will help the swelling go down. His color is also better.

Dr. Fox, the surgeon, says that he's surprised at how well Andrew's doing, so thank you all again for all your prayers - they help!

Teresa and I are both home tonight and we'll go to Mass together tomorrow - he's still very sick, of course, but we're confident that he's doing well enough that we can leave him for a bit. He's in good hands.

Creatinine toxin levels were still rising slowly this morning, but now that the urine output is up, they expect those to start to tail off.

They'll also start feeding him Teresa's breast milk as soon as he's off both the epinephrine and the vasopresin. He was actually off the vaso last night briefly, but they put him back on at a minimal dose. Meanwhile they've cut the epi dose by more than half. Both drugs help keep his blood pressure up, but they'd rather use the vaso - it's not as rough on the heart. They're hoping he'll be off of both within the next couple of days.

Off to bed for me!
